Last day in Singapore

A wise man rightly said, "Time flies" and it sure does. Feels like it was just yesterday that I landed in this land of dreams. Nobody can turn back the time, all we can do is 'Live the Present'. Sadly today is our last day in Singapore but it was the New Year's Eve. For us, new year's celebration started since the day we landed. Each day was indeed a blessing.

We headed back to China town to do some souvenir shopping for our friends back home and also to have the 'Michelin star winning meal' at the Hawker Chan restaurant. A dish can be given 'Michelin star' by the 'French Food Guide' based on its quality, mastery of technique, personality and consistency of the food. They do not look at the interior decor, table setting or the service quality (source:Google) which I think is great because some people despite having the talent, they do not have much money to make their restaurants fancy. One such guy is Mr.Chan or Hawker Chan as he is known, the owner and chef of 'Lio Fan Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice and Noodle', one of the first street food stalls to win a Michelin star. I was really excited to taste the award winning meal but not to forget the queue, woah! that was one very long queue. It is said that people have to wait for hours to make an order but we didn't give up. After waiting for sometime, there it was on the table, the famous Soya sauce chicken rice and noodles and the other specialties. It looked so inviting and the taste, mam ma mia, WOW. The meat (chicken and pork) was so soft and tender and with every bite, you could feel the juice of delicious soya sauce on your tongue. The noodles, soup, sauce, everything was so good. No wonder it was a Michelin star winning meal. We savored every bit of it except the one ...(if you remember what I mean...haha..@ Rima). Later we also passed by the original Hawker Chan stall in an open aired food court known as Hawker Center. The queue was much longer and price of the food was also much cheaper.

At the Hawker Chan restaurant.

Finally with the Michelin star meal.

Doesn't it look so inviting?

The original Hawker Chan stall.

Once again we went to the 'Buddha Tooth Relic Temple' to thank for an amazing stay in this beautiful country with perfect weather, where I personally had a lot of new experiences. Then we strolled back in the China town stalls for some nice souvenir before we headed back to 'Mustafa Center', sports section where you can find almost everything for any kind of sports. And there is also a place called 'Daiso' where you can mostly find Japan's unique and cute inventions only for 2 Sing-dollars for every item. Isn't is amazing? It sure was a great place for me, me being a fan of teeny tiny things :).

Back at the China Town.

Fun time at Daiso.

Our last and final MRT ride.

Since it was the New Year's Eve, we decided to stay home. And guess what we had for dinner? It's steam boat or hot pot as some say it. We had one in Thailand but at that time, since there was no one to guide us, we did not enjoy much. But today we had the masters..haha. Steam boat was not just about eating from one pot, it is a family tradition to strengthen family bonding and share happiness. Its all about gathering around this boiling pot and putting and eating anything that you like. The beauty of this hotpot is that you can basically add anything, from meat to vegetables, noodles and dumplings, everything..you just name it. And you can take the whole time in the world.

See all those ingredients! :)

Last meal with the wonderful family.

For us it was an amazing experience and we really liked it. As far as I can remember, the ingredients were chicken, fish balls, pork balls, cuttlefish, crab stick, pork skin, dumplings, noodles, Chinese cabbage, morning glory, mushroom and some more (I am sure I have missed many). See..there were so many things! So we just had to add these ingredients in the soup, let it come to boil and voila!..you have it in your mouth. Meanwhile we can enjoy each other's company. I must say that Mr.Raymond (Rima's dear husband) had a great sense of humor. Most of the time, we had to keep our hands on the tummy and hold it hard because we could stand his humor :D :D :D God! It was really a good time. I would always remember this family as long as I can. Thank you so much for making us feel at home and special thanks to Rima for everything that you did for us. Finally with the countdown for the new year with live fireworks on T.V, we wished everyone a Very Happy New Year and prayed for more meetings in the future hopefully somewhere in a new place ;).

This is finally the END of my amazingly wonderful journey in Singapore :).
